About us

The CARO name has become familiar to most specifiers and contractors within the construction industry since 1985 and has established itself with quality products and economic pricing.

The formation of CAROFLOW LTD, with personnel who already had many years experience in the design and manufacture of Roof and Floor Drainage products, enabled their accrued knowledge to be brought together and resulted in a comprehensive range of high quality, engineered outlets that gave added security to the problems of the safe and secure removal of water, both on and within today's higher specification buildings.

Within a few years the decision was made to expand the Group with the acquisition of separate manufacturing bases that would enable a greater control on the quality of the basic components.

The first result was that in 1995, Reliance Foundry Ltd joined the CARO GROUP and then began growing steadily to become a successful supplier of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Die and Sand Castings to other independent, unrelated companies, as well as to Caroflow.

Then, early in 1999, Caroflow, having outgrown its existing assembly and despatch area within the Reliance Foundry premises, purchased and moved into a separate warehousing unit in Dartford, Kent.

At the same time a decision was made to form Carocoatings Ltd, to allow us to bring the polyester powder coating production, as used on most Caroflow products, in-house. Again this was to give greater control to the manufacturing quality upon which our reputation was being based was soon looking to add more equipment to handle the increased demand.

Within a matter of months Carocoatings had doubled its projected turnover and heavy investment in more plant and equipment, with a much more expansive location allowed a greater diversity of skills.

By 2001, everything had settled into place with Caroflow moving to even larger premises, nearer to it's subsidiary Reliance, increasing it's stockholding to continue to satisfy customer needs, achieved ISO Quality Assurance Certification (no mean feat!) and generally everything was going well when the decision was taken to takeover an ailing foundry, based in Lower Sydenham, South East London.

Maybrey Precision Castings Limited had been trading since 1927 and had built up a superb reputation as a specialist Aluminium foundry, producing castings in the past for the Spitfire and other early aeronautical advancements and more latterly now for the aerospace, military, semi-conductor industries and other quality conscious customers, which is why they have always maintained such high Quality Assurance facilities with ISO 9002, CAA and similar certifications.

With the guidance of our Chairman Douglas Hills F.I.Brit.F. and our Group Managing Director, Roger Wood, Maybrey Precision Castings came out of years in the doldrums and started producing profits whilst still keeping to the standards everyone has come to expect, both through it's previous existence and it's new life within the CARO GROUP.

The inevitable contraction in the workforce meant that the site in SE26 was far too large and inefficient, so it was disposed of and Maybrey was relocated to it?s new site in Crayford, Kent.

In May 2005, a consolidation of the shared activities and production between Reliance and Maybrey resulted in the merger of the two companies and from this MAYBREY RELIANCE has been born.

Maybrey Reliance is now able to offer a ?one stop shop? for customers who are looking for Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Sand and Die Casting with Aluminium Investment Casting and full access to Engineering and Machining facilities.

Carocoatings has since become a Division of Caroflow Limited and, under it?s new name CARO TECHNICAL SERVICES, is able to offer further ?in-house? services of Production Assembly, Wet and Powder Industrial Coating, X-Ray and other Non-Destructive Testing.

With all of these facilities at our disposal, it was a natural progression for the formation of CARO FLOOD DEFENCE SYSTEMS LTD and if you look at the details on the web site you will see how, from the original concept of a removable/re-useable flood barrier through design to actual production, the facilities of the CARO GROUP were able to work together to produce a total product package, Waterwall.
