The frequency of weather warnings in the UK has increased over the past few years and Autumn 2023 has proved no exception. Storm Babet caused huge disruption to the country over five days and the effects are still being felt days after and for flood victims, for weeks and possibly months after.

In the past it has been much easier for the Met Office to predict which areas are likely to flood based on historic data but as the landscape of the UK changes with more and more housing developments being built, it is becoming harder and harder to predict and homeowners who had previously not experienced flooding are being flooded.

There are multiple reasons for this and although Climate change is causing more frequent weather warnings, the flooding is often caused by the removal of natural run offs for rainfall and also the poor state of drainage ditches and culverts.

Whatever is causing the additional flooding, it is clear that it is becoming more and more prevalent to see flooding in previously unaffected areas. Our WaterWall and WaterDoor products can help you quickly and cost effectively achieve flood protection and comply to all UK British Standards.
