With over 20 years of experience in flood defence and thousands of properties protected across the UK, our technical proficiency is backed by in-house manufacturing at our UK-based foundry, Maybrey Precision Castings. Here, we custom-make each flood protection solution, maintaining strict quality control to ISO 9001:2015 and ensuring every barrier meets the highest standards — including BS 851188-1:2019+A1:2021.
We are proud to have been the first in the UK to be independently tested and Third Party approved to BS 851188-1:2019+A1:2021 for demountable flood defence barriers. Additionally we are setting a new benchmark for our industry with our journey to be the first to achieve the British Standard for Flood Resistance.

Next Steps – Achieving the Approval to British Standard for Flood Defence
While achieving BS 851188-1:2019+A1:2021 accreditation and approval for use in the Environment Agency Framework marks a major milestone, our journey doesn’t stop there. Our next goal is to secure the full Third Party accreditation for Flood Resistance – one of the most recognised symbols of quality and trust in the UK. This prestigious mark goes beyond meeting the standard’s technical requirements. It demonstrates that:
• Our quality management and factory production control systems are capable of consistently delivering products that meet the standard over time.
• We have the process discipline to maintain the same high performance in every barrier we make.
Maintaining the accreditation also requires ongoing Third Party surveillance. Independent assessors will visit our site – typically twice a year – to verify that our manufacturing, testing, and quality processes continue to meet the highest standards. For our customers and installer network, the accreditation will be a clear, independent assurance that Caro barriers aren’t just built to the standard once – they’re built to it every time.
