Caro Group Achieves Future Net Zero Platinum Award
We're proud to announce that Caro Group has been awarded the Future Net Zero Platinum Award – the highest level of recognition for carbon reduction and sustainable manufacturing practices.
The journey to achieve this coveted status has been ongoing since 2018. The company has reduced its carbon footprint by 81.3% since beginning its net zero journey.

What Platinum Status Means
The Future Net Zero Standard is verified by independent assessors and aligns with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Race to Zero campaign. Platinum status represents the highest tier of certification, requiring comprehensive measurement, reporting, and verified reduction of carbon emissions across all scopes.
"Achieving Platinum status gives us a strong start to 2026 and sets a new benchmark for sustainable manufacturing," said Dave Lowe, Group Managing Director. "Our customers benefit directly – every Caro Flow product they specify actively reduces their Scope 3 emissions."
How We Did It
Our journey to Platinum involved comprehensive transformation across our entire operation:
Energy & Infrastructure
Switched all facilities to green energy contracts
Upgraded to low-powered machinery throughout our foundry
Implemented enhanced monitoring systems
Transport & Logistics
Expanded our electric and hybrid vehicle fleet
Achieved 85% carbon-neutral delivery through carbon-offsetting courier partnerships
Reduced business travel by 135.7% compared to benchmark levels
Implemented car-sharing scheme covering over 65% of staff
Operational Efficiency
Consolidated subcontractor deliveries into full pallets to reduce unnecessary journeys
Located all pattern makers, core makers, and finishing contractors within 10-mile radius of foundry
Moved 50% of board meetings and three international meetings entirely online
What This Means for Our Customers
For specifiers working to PAS 2080 carbon management standards or seeking BREEAM credits, this certification provides measurable emissions reduction through supplier selection.
Every product manufactured at our facility – from Caro Flow roof drainage systems to Maybrey Precision Castings for aerospace and engineering applications – now carries independently verified Platinum-level environmental credentials.
"The construction and engineering sectors face unprecedented pressure to reduce carbon emissions," added Lowe. "By choosing suppliers who take sustainability seriously, you're not just meeting compliance requirements – you're actively contributing to measurable carbon reduction."
Heritage Meets Innovation
With a heritage dating back to 1849, Caro Group combines traditional foundry expertise with modern manufacturing techniques. Our Platinum Award demonstrates that manufacturing excellence and environmental responsibility aren't opposing forces – they're complementary strengths.
Looking Ahead
We're not stopping here. Continuous improvement is embedded in our culture, and we're already planning the next phase of our sustainability initiatives.
Caro Group has committed to achieving Net Zero by 2050, with a target of 50% emissions reduction by 2030 in line with science-based targets set by the UNFCCC.
