Caro Flood Defence Barrier WaterDoor
Doorways and Individual Openings. Deployed by One Adult.
Caro Flood Defence Barrier WaterDoor has been developed for doorways and individual openings up to 1500mm wide. It is used primarily for residential, public sector and light commercial applications and is designed to be deployed by one adult using a T-Bar Allen key supplied with the system.
WaterDoor is independently approved to BS 851188-1:2019+A1:2021, the British Standard for demountable flood barriers, and is approved for use on the Environment Agency's Property Flood Resilience (PFR) Framework. Like all Caro Flood Defence barrier systems, WaterDoor is manufactured in-house at our production facility in Kent, made to order and quality assured to ISO 9001:2015.
Is WaterDoor Right for Your Application?
WaterDoor is suited to residential doorways, single access points, light commercial premises and public sector buildings where the opening to be protected is up to 1500mm wide. If the aperture is wider than 1500mm, Caro Flood Defence Barrier WaterWall may be more appropriate, using demountable posts at 1500mm intervals to span unlimited widths. For wide commercial or industrial apertures where demountable posts are not suitable, WaterTight may be the right choice.

How WaterDoor Works
WaterDoor panels slot into permanently fixed wall rails on each side of the doorway or opening. When a flood warning is issued, panels are dropped into position and panel sealing screws tightened using a T-Bar Allen key to secure the barrier against the rubber seals on the inside of the rails, creating a watertight barrier. The system can be deployed in minutes by one adult.
The one-time installation of wall rails should be carried out by a professional installer. Caro works with a network of approved installers across the UK. Deployment of the panels when a flood occurs is carried out by the property owner or occupant.

WaterDoor Components

Wall Rails & Panel Sealing Screws
Permanently fixed wall rails are available in two forms: reveal fix (fixed between the reveals/brickwork of the opening) or face fix (fixed to the face of the brickwork). Each rail includes a recess for the Wall Rail Compression Block and a rubber seal on the inner side. Panel sealing screws secure the aluminium panels against the seals to prevent water ingress.

Panel Extrusion
Each individual panel is 200mm or 300mm high x 20mm thick and is supplied with rubber seals to prevent water ingress. As all WaterDoor barriers are manufactured to order, the aluminium panel is cut to the required length.

Wall Rail Compression Block
The compression block is inserted into a recess at the top of the fixed wall rails and is used to ensure adequate downward pressure is applied to each end of the barrier.

Compression Post
The compression post is utilised for WaterDoor barriers that span over widths of 1500mm but less than 2000mm. This component ensures that adequate downward pressure is applied along the entire barrier length.

Ground Strips
The Ground Strips can be used to provide additional security and sealing performance in areas with rough or porous ground finishes. They can be supplied pre-fabricated and welded to the Fixed Wall Posts or supplied loose.
Optional Extras
A range of optional extras is available to complement your Caro Flood Defence Barrier system.
This includes additional components and accessories to support installation in specific site conditions.
Professional Installation
WaterDoor wall rails are fixed to the structure on each side of the opening during a one-time installation. This is best carried out by a professional installer. Caro works with a network of approved installers who can be contacted via the Caro team. Once wall rails are in place, deployment in response to a flood warning is carried out by the property owner or occupant. For installation details, please go to our Installation Guide page [hyperlink to page]. The installation guide provides instructions on how to install the Caro Flood Defence Barrier according to the British Standard installation process. However, it is recommended that an approved installer is used.
WaterDoor is also approved for use on the Environment Agency's Property Flood Resilience (PFR) Framework. For full details of Caro's approval credentials and testing documentation, see our Approval and Testing page.
WaterDoor is made to order. To receive a quote, please provide your opening
width and required barrier height and our team will respond promptly.
